Sarah Tyler

Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to supporting individuals with diverse needs. As a strong advocate for promoting independence, I focus on supporting participants to build their self-advocacy and decision-making skills. My commitment to enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families has been the driving force behind my professional journey.

I began my path as a disability support worker in respite care, which provided me with foundational insights into the unique challenges faced by individuals and their families. I then transitioned to a role as a youth worker in a therapeutic residential care unit, where I supported children experiencing significant behavioural challenges who could not live at home. This experience deepened my understanding of the complexities of individual needs and reinforced the importance of personalized support.

As my career evolved, I took on a position in Specialist Disability Accommodation as a disability support worker. Here, I furthered my professional development by earning a Certificate IV in Disability and an Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management. Later, I embraced a role in educational support at a local specialist school, allowing me to integrate my knowledge and skills within a learning environment.

My journey also includes both personal and professional experience in navigating the NDIS. As a Support Coordinator, I coordinated services for NDIS participants and their families in nearby communities. Coupled with my own experiences supporting my family through the NDIS process, I have gained valuable insights and empathy, enabling me to forge meaningful connections and advocate effectively for the needs of participants and their families.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and friends, tending to my indoor plants, cooking, and enjoying a good book. These pursuits enrich my life and inspire my ongoing commitment to advocacy and support for those I serve.
