Katie Bodel is a vital member of the Ararat Wellness team, bringing a wealth of experience to her role as a Registered Counsellor and Behaviour Practitioner. Her proficiency in a range of community service settings, including education, enrolled nursing, mental health, homelessness, employment, and NDIS, makes her an invaluable asset. Katie’s ability to connect with and support individuals through various challenges demonstrates her commitment to improving the lives of those she serves.
Katie’s professional journey began with roles as an early years educator and a Special School Officer for children with Autism. She also gained significant experience as an Allied Health Assistant and Lifestyle Coordinator within the NDIS framework. Her most recent position as a counsellor and clinical lead in the employment sector further honed her skills before she returned to the NDIS as a behaviour consultant.
Educationally, Katie is well-equipped with a Graduate Diploma in Psychology (Advanced with Honours), a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling, and a Bachelor of Social Science in Psychology. Her academic background solidifies her expertise in addressing a wide range of client needs.
Katie’s skills extend to managing disability and complex dual diagnoses, bolstering mental health and motivation, building rapport, and effectively communicating with clients. She is adept in handling de-escalation and challenging behaviours and employs a person-centred and trauma-informed approach. This skill set ensures that she can meet the diverse needs of her clients with empathy and effectiveness.
Apart from her professional abilities, Katie actively contributes to the community. Her interests include mental health, motivational strategies, and the development of therapeutic approaches to complex behaviours.
